Victorinox Swiss Army Camper Pocket Knife Review

Victorinox Swiss Army Camper Pocket Knife

This is a very versatile knife. Victorinox is my only choice in a pocket knife. I have carried this particular model knife for the last 16 years. I did have a Huntsman, but when this was stolen I inadvertantly replaced it with this one, and that is when it became a knife I carried everyday. It is thinner than the Huntsman but you only sacrifice the scissors and a hook thing but you keep the saw. I came by this model by mistake but I have found it a much better option than some of the knives with more stuff.
Also, I highly recomend the saw tool. It is awsome that something so small can cut so well. If you have never used this saw before you should try it. If you do much of anything outside, this is a great addition to the standard pocket knife fare of blades and openers.

In 1884, Master Cutler Karl Elsener started his cutlery factory in the small village of Ibach, Switzerland. In 1897, he crafted the Victorinox Original Swiss Army Knife. Since that time, the Elsener family has continued to craft tools in the Victorinox tradition of in genius design, durability, and quality. This is why all Victorinox multi-tools, made of first class stainless steel, are guaranteed a lifetime against defects in material and workmanship. REMEMBER, If it doesn't say Victorinox, it's not the Original Swiss Army Knife.

20" Black Steel Machete w/ Sheath Review

20 Black Steel Machete w/ Sheath
Average Reviews:

This thing is cheap! And I mean cheaply made, cheaply packed (in the wrong size sheath) and made from sheet metal. The grips are hollow hard plastic and it's a piece of garbage. You get what you pay for, but in this case you get even less.
It was kind of sharp, but the blade wasn't even sharpened all the way to the end. It's super flexible and I would never trust those hard grips to stay attached after any kind of real use.
It might work for light use but overall it's very cheap.

Brand new camping/backpacking machete. Very useful for clearing a space to camp or to cut through tough undergrowth. The blade is made of carbon steel (the steel goes all the way to the bottom of the handle in one piece!). It has a comfortable plastic handle and a nylon sheath with belt-loop.

Victorinox Golf Tool Review

The translucent ruby colored casing provides an update to the classic Swiss Army red, but the old-fashioned quality remains. Bonus: It comes with it's own pouch. Even the pouch is top-quality, padded nylon with velcro closure, the Victorinox logo on the flap and a handy belt clip. Nice piece of work.

Sawback Fixed Blade Machete Black Review

Sawback Fixed Blade Machete Black

this thing is a piece of cr@p. The metal part is bent near the handle so the blade isn't even entirely straight with the handle- probably lack of decent manufacturing. the sawback is not sharpened or able to be used for anything. the sawback is just for show. i would get one of the logner samurai kind of swords as a machete. which i did purchase and am happy with

Ok First off I didnt buy mine from this site. I own one of these though, same knife and same sheath. I personally paid $25 for mine so 9.99 is a great price.
Its heavy enough to be used on thick roots and trees (thats what i used mine for). sheath isnt the best but I wont carry this one I throw it in my car or my bag when I go camping.
All and all I love this knife and its worth the money.

Victorinox Minichamp Swiss Army Knife Review

Victorinox Minichamp Swiss Army Knife
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I originally received this knife as a gift, and I gave one of those fake "gee, thanks, this is swell" reactions because I didn't really think it was something I'd ever use. After all, I'd never had a pocket knife, and I never felt the need to carry one.
Man, what a dope I was! I use this little beauty almost every day. It's well-built and the steel keeps its edge for a long time. It's so compact, it's no trouble to carry in my pocket. Scissors are an attachment that usually doesn't work very well in pocket knives, but these have worked well for over 3 years and counting.
I knocked one star off the review because the nail file and cuticle pusher attachments are silly. I would have rather had other items like screw drivers, or just leave them off and make it narrower.
The ball point pen is a clever touch, and has proven surprisingly useful.
Thus is a solid knife, and a great personal accessory. However, that said, if I was making the purchase today, I would skip this and get the Midnite MiniChamp or Midnite MiniChamp II instead. I think the addition of the minilight is a must-have, and if I ever need to replace my little MiniChamp, I'll do it with one of the Midnite models.

Gerber 07564 Pro Scout Needlenose with Tool Kit - Multi-Plier 600 Review

I have had this tool for a couple of years now and am so pleased with it. The metal finish is so smooth that it is a delight to hold. Friends just can't put it down sometimes. The blades and tools included are exceptional quality, especially the scissors and knife. The accessory kit enables you to turn the screwdriver into a holder for other size screwdrivers or even sockets and Allen keys. I have added my own accessories to the kit so that I have everything to maintain my wheelchair. A superb tool and much more comfortable to hold than the Swiss tool and Leatherman that I looked at.

No handle rotation or gyrations are necessary to open the Pro Scout -- just a flick of the wrist slides the plier jaws into the locked and ready position. It also features independent tool rotation, allowing access to components you want without other tools following it out. Gil Hibben IV Combat Machete Blade Knife Review

Gil Hibben IV Combat Machete Blade Knife
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've purchased several other Gil Hibben/ United Cutlery knives in the past and my expectations have always been exceeded. But this machete is on an entirely different level. This thing is massive and gorgeous. It is truly a functional piece of exquisite art. Your sons will be debating over who gets this one someday, and once this goes out of production it may have some real collectability.
That said, the concern mentioned by another reviewer is a valid one. This thing is unfortunately made in China, which per se means the quality control is lousy. Why we send good American money over there for junk that literally ends up in American landfills within only months is beyond my ability to comprehend. I personally would prefer to spend twice as much for an American-made (or even Taiwan or Korean-made) version, where quality is much more assured. I know that there is some good stuff coming out of China, but it is only a very small percentage. 90%+, in my view, is garbage. Even if the piece looks pretty good, you never know for sure. Will the piece fail under heavy use or duress due to some compromise in production?
That's the issue here with this machete. The first one I received had a small hair-line mark on the spine which I presumed was a scratch. By total coincidence, on the same day I received the machete, I also received a 10x Belomo jeweler's loupe. I inspected the "scratch" through the loupe and saw that instead it was a crack in the steel. It was a very disconcerting observation. Never have I purchased a knife where there is a crystalized crack in the steel. It makes me wonder whether there is some pervasive compromise in the type of steel they are using over there, or whether this was simply an error in the founding process.
Regardless, I replaced the defective one, and I now "proudly" have one which appears defect-free. But let's say I have to actually put this beast to work some day, hacking a tree or an unlucky intruder. Will the steel fail? I'm pretty sure I can get the intruder into at least two parts, but some other more extended project might reveal craftsmanship issues in this tool. It is disconcerting that I even have to wonder.
Mr. Hibben comes up with truly magnificent designs. I just wish he could get them built at factories and in locations where the quality is beyond question. Gil, I would gladly have paid $200 to $300, or more, for this if I knew that the quality was beyond reproach. Boker-Plus does great work at reasonable prices; can't you emulate their manufacturing strategy?

Trademark Colossal 25-Inch Heavy Duty Machete with Nylon Sheath Review

Trademark Colossal 25-Inch Heavy Duty Machete with Nylon Sheath
Average Reviews:

First of all, there is nothing Colossal about this guy. I read the specs before I bought it, but still thought it would be bigger. The thing reminds me more of a Katana or Scimatar than anything. And it came dull as all hell. That being said, after I put an edge on it it's not bad. I actualy like the size now given it's shape. it will be good for back packing. It will not replace my favorate proven machete by any means, but it is not bad at all. For only 15 bucks, you could do a lot worse.
