(More customer reviews)When I got this blade I was impressed with it's slimness and very sharp point and blade. It seems to hold an edge quite well too. I also like the pocket clip because it never snags on things.
But for some reason they used a 2 screw method of holding the blade in place. After opening the knife 10-20 times these screws become loose and you can literally feel the blade wiggle from side to side within the housing. Having to tighten these screws(which use a Torx 8 screwdriver, not too common) has become a real pain in the you know what.
I also knew this when I ordered it, but this knife isn't legal in most states. It just barely passes for legal in NJ. The blade is about 3.8" long and nothing above 4" is legal here. Check with your state's laws before you order it.

Its not that sharp, the steel feels like it will chip easy, and the cap at the end comes off. I think the cap at the end comes off so you can store stuff in it but it comes off much to easy. In short you want a cool looking knife just to play around with this is your knife. If you need a knife for camping and what not look elsewhere... cold steal makes some good ones.

I have only used this on older knives used for utility purposes. Some of these knives were very beat up. It was very easy to remove a lot of metal from these knives so cleaning them up and starting with a fresh edge was not difficult. After removing the burrs, re-sharpening is effortless. So the bottom line is, great sharpener but use care to not whittle your knife away!

Cold Steel San Mai Gurkha Kukri Kraton Handle (Secure-Ex Sheath) Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this blade for my bug out pack and have used it to see what it could do. My tests occured in the North Eastern United States (northern Ohio and Michigan upper P). First of all, i don't believe the kukri is worth the price. the company has used its brand equity that it built from previous legends in their line (veitnam brass hilt tanto). As a result, you have a very high sticker price and not very much to offer. Now the blade does come sharp, but not as sharp as any Columbia River (which are the sharpest out of the factory commercial knives avaliable). Cold steel tries to say "yeah our knives are the tuffest out there"; the fact is, this kukri is a very expensive people slicer! this is not a tactical knife. it does wear fast when used against an oak tree/any hard wood! How is it that when i make contact with an oak tree it dulls the balde "what the fu..?". I can beat an oak tree to death with an ontario spak axe or machete and not a single bit of damage? because those tools do not have the "V-g1. Vg1 steel may have its advantages if you work in a slaughter house, but for survival the rigidity of the steel for the tip was not the best choice.
In short, I never have had a problem with a $30-$40 ontario work horse and they are much easier to sharpen when in the back country! I would go for the Columbia River Ultima tactical fixed blade (WITH VEFF seration) and an ontario in the woods any day. The Veff seration is the BEST IN THE WORLD!! I can't emphasize enough how awesome Columbia River product are! they are better than cold steel and they cost much much less! Also, Columbia River knives are the sharpest out of the box "period". If you want the back country package please don't make the same mistake i did and spend your money on this expensive dust collector or end of the world people slasher; furthermore, the fact remains that this thing is meant for cutting meat and rope and cardboard! that is it.... You see the demonstrations on Cold Steel...all they cut: 1.) meat, 2.) rope, 3.) cardboard, and 4.) water gallon jugs. that would be great if you were cutting those things to make a shelter out of in the woods.
In summation, i wish i had not purchased this kukri. I had to post this review because i know that most people won't use theirs and have it sitting for the "end times". It is not good to have this and then find out when it is too late that you will have a very difficult time sharpening this knife when you use it (convex blade) and it really honestly can't do tuff survival work. save the money and get a columbia river m16 13sfc, columbia river Ulitma 7" with Veff seration and a good ontario chopper! those have never let me down; never ever ever.... Now my dad would suggest the old school cattaragus 225q or machete (good old heavy stuff, but not that great!).
the point of this review is to let you know that just because cold steel use to be the best doesn't mean that they are anymore. DON'T BUY A NAME BRAND buy what is actually good!

(More customer reviews)Ok this wasn't what I expected. First the good: I've only just recieved this but it seems to be well built. No loose parts or flimsy construct.
However...
This is a much heavier knife then I thought. It is not practical for combat use. But it would make a hell of a heavy duty kitchen knife.
There are no rubber inserts, or if the inserts are rubber, its a very hard rubber that doesn't help at all with the grip. So keep in mind that the grip isnt so great (not terrible, do to the shape, but not especially comfortable or slip proof).
The knife did not arrive very sharp, though with some work I'm sure it'll be just fine.
About the sheath, besides for being cheaply made (I'm sure it'll fall apart after some use), it has a 'safety' latch that keeps the knife in, but makes it very hard to unsheath.
So bottom line; It is a heavy duty knife that is not badly made. The sheath is junk though. It's a decent price, but not if you want it for army use. I would not take it into combat with me. It may be good for hunting though since I'm not a hunter, I don't know for sure.

Cons: the sheath is a bit thin on the bottom, I've already had my knife point poke out, but it didn't cut the sheath, just poked out a bit. under the rope there are two wood rectangles they use to give the rope more of a grip feeling, which isn't bad, but not stated in the description.
Conclusion: even though the cons part is bigger than the pros in my review, this is a great knife. worth the price. i would recommend this knife to my friends and family

(More customer reviews)I knew when I ordered this I was not going to get a top of the line knife, but I must say that for the price it was better than I expected. The blade itself does have somewhat of a gleam to it, but it is not as highly polished as say as $50 knife would be. That being said however, it is a sturdy knife with some weight and a good feel to it. I like the fact that the hand grip is made out of semi hard no-slip rubber, rather than some hard plastic like material that might slip in your hands if they got sweaty. The sheath is rather basic and there is not much to say about it except that it serves it purpose. This knife has a very sharp point and the edge is acceptable. The blade is made of 440 stainless steel.
Overall a great deal on a decent knife.

The knife is 2 pieces 1 being the actual blade and the other being the handle. as far as looks go i get comments on it all the time everywhere i have it, it always is a head turner for sure. as far as sharpness goes your gonna really have to work on the sharpness forever because it is about as dull as they come. and price you cant beat it i mean even for the looks and compliments you will get its worth it but if your lookin for a good, sharp, everyday carry around knife you should definetly go somewhere else.

NEW SOG KNIVES TRIDENT 3.75" TINI BLK Review

SOG's locking mechanism is very secure and easy to use. the assisted opening is smooth and fast. after a day of messing around, i could open and close the knife with both hands as easy as scratching my behind
the blade is a good size and cuts through most things well. however, i personally would prefer a sharper blade
SOG's zytel handle grips well and sits comfortably in my medium/large paws
the WORST part of this knife for me was the extra opening for cutting string/etc . . . unless you are cutting thin twine or fishing line it doesnt work very well
the BEST part of the knife, besides the lock action, is the clip. people see it and think, how in the turkey gravy are you going to concealed carry a knife with a 5" handle? simple. it is very thin and the clip is on the very end of the handle. it slips into your pants, leaving only the attractively styled "SOG" clip hanging out. the clip for mine (black TiNi) is also a dull black, hiding it from all but the most prying knives.
the clip is also NOT somewhere in the middle of the knife, a rather ridiculous feature of some CKRT, buck, and camillus knives. why would you EVER want 1/4 of your knife sticking out for the world to see? not to mention some of the knives from those manufacturers are almost as fat as a hot dog sausage. before i owned my knife i never really knew what to look for. now that i have my SOG that tucks securely into my pocket and out of prying eyes, i get a laugh out of other not-as-well thought out knives . .SOG is a great product for the money. jsut to try out different and better things, my next knife shall be a benchmade.
