NEW SOG KNIVES TRIDENT 3.75" TINI BLK Review

SOG's locking mechanism is very secure and easy to use. the assisted opening is smooth and fast. after a day of messing around, i could open and close the knife with both hands as easy as scratching my behind
the blade is a good size and cuts through most things well. however, i personally would prefer a sharper blade
SOG's zytel handle grips well and sits comfortably in my medium/large paws
the WORST part of this knife for me was the extra opening for cutting string/etc . . . unless you are cutting thin twine or fishing line it doesnt work very well
the BEST part of the knife, besides the lock action, is the clip. people see it and think, how in the turkey gravy are you going to concealed carry a knife with a 5" handle? simple. it is very thin and the clip is on the very end of the handle. it slips into your pants, leaving only the attractively styled "SOG" clip hanging out. the clip for mine (black TiNi) is also a dull black, hiding it from all but the most prying knives.
the clip is also NOT somewhere in the middle of the knife, a rather ridiculous feature of some CKRT, buck, and camillus knives. why would you EVER want 1/4 of your knife sticking out for the world to see? not to mention some of the knives from those manufacturers are almost as fat as a hot dog sausage. before i owned my knife i never really knew what to look for. now that i have my SOG that tucks securely into my pocket and out of prying eyes, i get a laugh out of other not-as-well thought out knives . .SOG is a great product for the money. jsut to try out different and better things, my next knife shall be a benchmade.

(More customer reviews)When I first got this knife, i loved it. Felt like a very good steel, and i really liked the rubberized handle, it gave an excellent grip for utility tasks. I was happy and thought this was a very good value, But a few days later I dropped it (woops) and the tip broke off. On a WOODEN floor. old hardwood floor thats under your carpet at that. I dont think dropping the knife is abusing the blade, so i give it 3 stars for being so brittle and prone to breakage. Put the $20 towards a better, higher quality knife

I carry it every day, and it isn't too heavy or bulky. The steel seems like it is decent enough, especially for the price. At under $30 for a quality blade with a lifetime warranty, it wouldn't kill me to lose it, and I would just buy another one. It is perfect for my needs.

Gerber E-Z-Out Jr. Clip Point Knife Review

(More customer reviews)I've had this knife for 5 years. It was sent back to Gerber once because the rubber inserts in the Zytel handle loosened, after 3 years. They replaced the handle, sharpened the knife, and returned it promptly, for free. Keep in mind that the knife rode in my front pocket every day, and whenever I moved furniture or something heavy at work the knife caught the brunt of the contact on my hip. You can buy an alloy handled knife if triple redundant sturdiness is a huge concern, but Zytel is an incredibly tough plastic, and the significant weight reduction makes it preferable in daily carry (not trench warfare or whatever some knives are marketed for) situations. If a knife is annoyingly heavy, you won't carry it, and you won't have it when you need one. The thumb hole in the blade is better than a thumb stud because it doesn't dig into your hip. One handed opening is no problem, even with large hands. The full size half & half serrated is large enough to be noticed if it falls out of a pocket, which doesn't happen often if you keep the clip tight. It's very comfortable to carry and use at this size, and a lot safer than fumbling with a tiny pen knife. The blade holds an edge very well, and the lock has remained tight. The Jr. version is less secure in a jean pocket than the full size, because of the reduced length, but it might be preferable for people with small hands. Don't buy the Jr. solely for weight considerations, since the full is very light. It's an excellent compromise between a crappy unsafe $5 throwaway for work and a high dollar overbuilt Benchmade (or equivalent) that's way too easy to lose. Lifetime guarantee.

(More customer reviews)A Gerber knife at this price is a awesome. I was very pleasantly surprised to find that it is still in line with their quality.
This is a great general utility knife. The action is very smooth after some break in, even without spring assist. It's nice that I wont have to worry about such a mechanism breaking.
The addition of the screwdrivers on the back for this type of large single blade folding knife is what really set it apart of me. It even comes with an attached aluminum belt clip.My only complaint is likely the lock in switch (the vertical sliding lock). It's a bit loose and ends up feeling a bit cheap due to this. However, it does still work correctly, and in the worst case it's not really needed with the button lock anyway (the button lock is solid).

Ridge Runner Elite Two Blade Folding Knife Review

(More customer reviews)The grip is non-slip, as in your hand really doesn't slip at all. The knife comes very very sharp and is a good length. The saw works well, but I found it only works if you cut across the grain of wood. So medium sized sticks, wood dowel rods or tree branches will cut fairly cleanly with it.
The only reason I entered 4 out of 5 is because there's no pocket clip. What I end up doing is placing the little hook at the end of the saw blade over the corner of my pocket and it stays in place. In the long run, it's probably a bad idea though and will end up ruining my pocket. The hook cut through 550 para cord very cleanly, it's surprisingly sharp. It just takes a bit of pressure to get the cuts started.
