(More customer reviews)I bought this on a whim but now am glad that I did. I hike a lot in desert country and really like this to sweep the grass and check for snakes. At 42 inches I am not sure this is good for any other critters but the flexibility and light weight makes me prefer it over trekking poles/walking staffs. Not recommended if you need something for stability.

(More customer reviews)I ordered this from BiTech. Not top quality, but excellent value for the price paid. Easily snaps out with a quick flick. Stays out. Rock solid. Won't bend with normal use. Needs a good bang on the ground to make it retract again.
7.5 inches when retracted. Unlike the stock photo, three pieces expand from the outer shell, not two.
I bought this for self-defense against dogs (hopefully, never humans, but I've got it if I need it) when walking. It will certainly serve that purpose. Long enough to try and "shove it down their throat" as they approach. If that fails, a few good whacks will send them running. Whack them hard enough and I expect you'll break bones.

(More customer reviews)wonderful, truly wonderful. it looks great, keeps its edge depending on stress output, has a good feel, is well balanced, flips open with the greatest of ease(I would recommend flicking it open often when first getting it to make the withdrawl very smooth), and looks cool over-all. It is much longer than you would anticipate. The one and only flaw is that the blade was only painted black. So when I kept it in my pocket with my keys, it now has plenty of little dots and one long scratch which are anything but un-noticeable. To conclude, I would recommend it with the up most sincerity.

G12 K390 Red Nodachi Sword Review

(More customer reviews)As a big fan of the Zatoichi movies, I was totally psyched to own a Zatoichi-style shikimizue (cane sword). When the sword arrived (via UPS), I was slightly underwhelmed by the quality of the piece. But for what I paid, I shouldn't have expected any better.
The blade is slightly sharpened with a nice finish. I wouldn't swing it around too much because I doubt it's a full tang blade. When sheathed, the sword looks more like a straight katana sans handguard than an actual cane. It will still make a nice ornamental piece that'll blend well with my collection of old canes and umbrellas.
My biggest problem with the quality of the item is a cheap, gold-painted piece of plastic at the very end of the blade (towards the handle) that says "CHINA" in big letters. This lame piece of plastic gives away the low-quality of the sword.
As a disclaimer to anyone who thinks this sword bares any resemblance to Zatoichi's sword, it does not. There are other, more accurate reproductions of Zatoichi's sword from both the old movies and the remake, but those will cost you at least 5 times the price of this one. Overall, a good decorative piece for the money.
