(More customer reviews)This is a wonderful sword. Its looks to be mirror polished and the fittings are very tight. It is as authentic as production swords go. Its long and slender form sings through the air when you swing it. It does not take much time to build up to it from a 28 inch blade. All in all, not much else can be said since blades this size are pretty standard. However Cheness blades are known for cutting saplings and chopping wood. But like all blades, it would endure some edge damage.
It is unfortunate Cheness does not produce even longer blades than the 30 or the 33. It would be interesting to see what they would come up with.

(More customer reviews)The sword arrived in only a couple days and is in decent condition, it is sharp enough and it looks mostly like the picture, except the scabbard is just natural wood with stencils of several dragons on it, it is not really the color shown and most of the dragons were scratched of so it just looks bad, my other big problem is the add says a presentation box and there is not one at all, they also have this for sale showing the box for 10 dollars less which I found today. I do not recommend this to anyone, there are many other better swords for cheaper with everything they claim.

(More customer reviews)I received this sword well ahead of the time they said it would take to receive it. I am also very satisfied with the overall look of the sword. It came with a lovely case and the blade was pretty as well as sharp(not razor but still worth speaking of). My main complaint is that the strength of the steel was not much to speak of. I cut through several boxes and it cut readily but as soon as I tried to take it through a drum stick it dented easily. So my overall judgment is that if you want a lovely blade for display then this is a good choice. I do not however advise it for cutting through anything harder than boxes.

This is a hand made razor sharp entry level practical katana sword suitable for normal tameshigiri. This sword is themed with the famous Japanese Sengoku Daimyo Takeda Shingen and his famous Fu Rin Ka Zan phrase engraved on the copper tsuba. The item looks good just as pictured. The blade is very sharp and mono steel. Not sure what kind of metal it is. Scabbard is very tight. Great item for the price compared to other blades in its price range. Better than nothing when it comes to home defense and zombie apocalypse.
The Bad:
The Scabbard is very tight. Be careful when opening! High gloss will make item not too functional and slippery after extended use so its best for display. The worse thing though is this blade being "full tang" is highly suspect. The feel of the blade below the notch is noticeably not solid.

Newly forged katana swords were often stored in wooden sheath to store until they could be fitted. (More customer reviews)It is not a bad katana for the price. I chopped up a box but noticed a dent in the blade's edge. This was quite distressing and I believe the steel used isn't that good, or the edge wasn't properly hardened. It is made in China so I suspect the cutting edge wasn't heat-treated the way it should have been. It doesn't rattle or shake, the scabbard is well finished and the katana is overall, complete. The design is unlike any real katana though, with a sort of 'tribal tattoo' design.

This is my first sword in my sword collection. it did have some oil on the blade that easily came off with a rag. what surprised me was that i got it for $23.99 and it came with a display stand. it is not sharp at all though it is full tang and will be getting it sharpened. the sheath is about 2 to 3 inches to big for the blade. i will post some pictures of it. although it is not sharp the tip is pointy and cut my leg.(this is not S. Demers this is her son)

The saya of this most impressive and elegant katana is finished in a black lacquer with a unique Japanese imprint added on to it. The sageo wrapped around the saya is deep royal purple cotton. The 28 inch blade of this piece has been hand forged with the Japanese Maru technique. The blade is forged from 1045 carbon steel and has been hand sharpened. The handle measures 11 inches is formed from a black cotton cord and ray skin wrap. The tsuba (guard) is a blackened bronze with white acecents. Fully Hand Forged Full Tang Black Japanese Katana Sword #160 Review

(More customer reviews)As you can see from the customer pictures that I've posted, this katana is not a masterpiece. If you say you get what you pay for, it may be safe to say this is not a bad deal (I cannot compare with similarly priced products from other brands though.)
As most products in today's marketplace do, this one is hiding some nasty secret in the blind spot - inside the tsuka (handle). The product name includes the term "Full Tang," but I would not agree with that claim with its tang that runs only about 2/3 of the tsuka. I have two other swords in the same line, and one of them has its own problem (twisted tang) inside their tsuka (haven't disassembled the other one yet). Not sure if I'm particularly unlucky, or I cannot expect some craftmanship at this price level.
I'll continue to use these for drawing practice, but I won't allow anyone around, esp. when I cut a heavy stuff. I guess there is a (very) slight chance that the hollow tsuka can break.
