My husband likes them because we can easily buy a sharpening set and a new stand BUT we shouldn't have to be. NOT RECOMMENDED UNLESS YOU CAN BUY THE EXTRAS.

It's length and weight make it feel more than just a decorative sword, and the blade is attached well to the hilt so that it doesn't helicopter off into the neighbor's yard. This sword is a low grade stainless steel, not a high carbon steel as advertised; this means that it is pretty much for decoration or swinging only, not for any sword to other material contact. The blade is usually a little off balance due to the size difference between the blade and the attachment to the tsuba (guard). This is a great deal for the price + shipping in comparison to purchases in a store. A sword like this in a shop would normally be around $120.00.

The Traditional Samurai Dragon Katana Sword Blue has a sharp carbon steel blade and a deep ebony black saya (scabbard) with a blue nylon sageo (wrap around scabbard). The tsuba (guard) is of ornate cast metal construction featuring a main black guard with a golden dragon overlay design. The cast metal fittings have intricate detailing done to them in brass. The long two handed handle has a blue nylon cord wrap to feel perfect in both your hands. The katana measures 45 1/2 inches overall in length.

I bought what was supposed to be the Cherry Blossom Samurai Sword Set and instead I was sent a set that was totally different. I contacted the seller and informed them what had happened and in a couple of day they got in contact with me. They admited that they gave me the wrong set then proceeded to give me some BS story about how the set sent to me was worth more then the one that I ordered and offerd to let me keep that one at no additional charge. Really they just wanted to keep from having to pay more shipping fees for their screw up. I declined and was told that they would send the correct order along with the return slip so it wouldn't cost me anything. I have given them over a month, more then enough time to correct their mistake and the set that I wanted was NEVER SENT TO ME. In other words... THESE GUYS SUCK AND DON'T ORDER ANYTHING FROM THEM EVER!

(More customer reviews)Sword is not of the best quality, but certainly worth the 15 dollar price tag. For a wallhanger, I have no complaints. The kanji script carved into the scabbard is very attractive and adds to the traditional look of the sword. All the wrappings are nylon, but look nice enough. The blade is fairly dull, it barely passed the paper test, I might try to sharpen it later.
My only real complaint is that when the sword is removed from the scabbard, there is a greasy film that collects on the blade, but I think it will go away after a while.

This sword is beautiful in the very traditional sense of the samurai. The samurai found beauty in all things in nature. Carved into the scabbard of this sword is the kanji for "Honor " the summation of all that a samurai is. 40" Kendo Wooden Bokken Practice Samurai Sword Katana Review

(More customer reviews)The cord-wrapped handle is a great idea, offering more of a real sword-like look as well as a firmer grip. My hands tend to get sweaty and slip around a bit with long practice, particularly with the sealed lacquered finish on most bokken. This wrap really helps (though it needed a touch of glue to get it to stay in place). The two-piece guard design is a nice enhancement too. Though you really don't need the guard at all for many applications it is nice looking and appears stronger than the original.
It's still a fairly cheap piece of wood, compared to an ironwood version, but at this price (it was $9.99 when I bought it) you really can't go wrong. A nice enhancement over the basic bokken. I do, however, prefer the natural wood version to this one as it looks pretty bad once you start using it and the color scrapes off. Nevertheless, if you want an inexpensive practice sword this one is recommended...

(More customer reviews)I ordered this katana for use in a theatre production. It worked just fine for what I needed it for. The appearance is top quality. My only complaint would be that the end tip on the handle started to come off when I took it out of the box. I just put a little glue on it and it hasn't been a problem since. It is totally what I expected for a mere $17. The metal piece is not forged all the way through the handle, and the balance in it is not where it technically should be, but as I mentioned, exactly what I expected for $17. If you need it to be closely inspected, you may want to look at a different price range. All in all, a great deal for the price.

This set on the other hand has a great blade wonderful balance and stands up to even the much pricier set's and to top it off they look great on their display stand.
I would recommend this to anyone that is looking for either a nice display set, are a sturdy practice sword.

The whole thing is made of plastic and it was covered with oil when they came. My fiance opened this on Christmas morning only to see the broken sword and when he picked the large one up it wobbled out of the handle. The swords are beautiful but the quality is very low.
