(More customer reviews)I saw this knife for under $30 and just fell in lust with it. I'm a longneck drinker and I'm always searching for a bottle opener or having to improvise to open a brew when camping.. so, this seemed like a natural for me.
When it arrived, I was surprised at how "squat" the knife was. The handle is shorter than I had presumed (due to the bottle opener). The pics I had seen were a bit deceiving. The ones in this ad are better. All in all, it is still a cool fixed blade, but the plastic sheath is an absolute P.O.S. It scratches the finish on the blade where it puts pressure on the side, near the hilt, to hold it in. It is flimsy and the reversible clip is absolute crap.
For under $30, I think it was worth it. I need to have a nice leather sheath made for it. I would not pay $40+ for this knife though.

(More customer reviews)Pros: This knife is solid as a rock. It's more durable than other entry level tactical/survival knives. Its skeletonized design makes it way lighter and more concelable than most other knives of similar blade length.
Cons: The handle really has to be wrapped in paracord for a comfortable and natural grip. I wrapped mine just like a Strider (directions on [...]) and it feels great but the wrapping was necessary.
The sheath is also slanted in such a way that it is suited for left handed people and it would be akward to carry the knife on my right side as I generally do with my other knives.
All in all it is the best built, most durable knife for the price tag but it does require a little paracord and extra work to make it practical.

Kershaw Alaskan Blade Trader System Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this knife for my dad for fathers day some years back. It has undergone infrequent use but has met all tasks. The gut hook blade made short work of the two caribou we caped and the the hunting knife performed all field butchering requirement without a problem. The saw blade is very sharp and fine enough to make cutting leg bones and splitting rib cages a breeze. The blades come extremely sharp and hold an edge reasonably well. The only reason this is not a 5 star rating is because it doesn't compare to the custom knives I own and have used. I don't know how the "Quick-Lock" mechanism will hold up over extended heavy use. I love my custom hunting knives but for 1/4 the $$ I don't think you will be dissapointed. I love this knife for most hunting situations but If I was going out on a long back country excursion I would still carry a good full tang hunting knife just incase the Quick-lock failed.

(More customer reviews)Used this first on a 21/2 inch dried Red Elm limb (brick hard) that was hanging in the air and using it like an axe chopped it off in five cuts . As hard as that limb was believe it would have taken four chops with a single bit axe to cut it . Two things One, no hand shock while cutting and Two, the blade was still razor sharp with no nicks or chips also no bounce back . I then cut 1- 1 3/4 inch Russian Olive branches and sprouts with one swing and it was like cutting butter . The leather handle is very comfortable and the thing is well balanced . I have several machetes that are longer including two made with 1/4 inch thick 14 1/2 inch blades of Solingen steel made for the Argentinan Army and none match this for cutting power, comfort, and the ability to stay sharp . It is a high quality tool and made in America . You can buy cheaper machetes but that's exactly what you get along with the blisters, sore hands from shock, and a tool that falls apart in a short time. I'm sold on it enough I have both the Premium and Long Reach models . After you use one you understand why it has been around since 1941 with no real change . Thing has been around two years longer than me .

Schrade Senior Rancher 4" Closed 3 Blade Review

(More customer reviews)This is a large example of the classic stockman 3-blade pattern. It is a slip joint knife, meaning that the blades do not lock but are held open or closed by the backsprings, which you can see running down the spine of the knife.
Schrade knives were once USA-made but are now made in China by Taylor cutlery. Most Chinese-made slip joints that I have tried have problems with the spring action, fit and finish, sloppy blade grinding, substandard blade steel, or all of the above. Not this one. The backsprings, liners, bolsters, and scales are all finished perfectly flush, all blades have smooth travel and plenty of snap on opening and closing, and there is no blade play. The blades are precisely ground of 440-C, a high-carbon stainless steel that takes and holds an edge, given proper heat treatment at the factory.
Some people don't care for the Staglon (imitation Delrin antler) handle scales, but unlike natural materials, this stuff is indestructible. And this knife is a user, not a collector's piece.
It comes sort of sharp from the factory, which is typical these days, even for higher-priced USA-made brands. If you know how, you can get this one razor sharp with not too much effort, although the steel is hard enough to put up a bit of a fight. Once it's sharp, it stays that way awhile.
The stockman is a classic pattern for a reason. The long, tapering master blade is great for delicate tasks like fileting fish, slicing sausage, or piercing and slicing open those damned clamshell packages. The shorter sheepsfoot and spey blades are for rougher work, like cutting rope or carving wood. The blunt-nosed sheepsfoot is especially good for situations such as the deck of a boat, where you might risk stabbing yourself with a pointy blade.
This is a lot of knife in a very small and charming package, and it will please anyone who wants a versatile knife to carry and use. I only rated four stars because it is made of ordinary materials and is not some exotic masterpiece. It is, however, a masterpiece of industrial design and function. As a user, I've found it flawless.

The only complaints i have about this knife was that it was pretty dull. The inside of the curve was sharp but not sharp enough to cut a piece of paper like most knives should be able to. The back was completely dull which was a bit disappointing. The grip is meant for people with big hands. I personally have slightly larger than average hands and this knife sits a little uncomfortably in my hands. It's a good knife, but because of its dull nature i have to give it four stars

(More customer reviews)Some people choose to not read product descriptions before they buy items. If you are one of those people - don't buy this item. It is not some black carbon steel knife. This is a self defense product that is meant to be used in a situation where a normal heavy duty knife is no longer applicable. These weapons are light-weight, allowing them to be transported anywhere on your person or secured anywhere using mere scotch tape. These weapons are cheap, allowing one to be purchased for every room in your house. And above all these weapons are made for defense against a HUMAN TARGET not some cardboard box. Do you know what is the most degrading use for a knife? Cutting paper or anything similar to the texture of paper. It destroys the edge on even the best made steel knives. You don't use a polymer SD knife to open boxes, you use it with force to open arteries.
Karambits are specialist use knives. The ring on the end is created for a purpose, it is not a key ring. It is a rotational point and secure hold, used in knife defense. You will never find a respectable karambit without at least one loop in it. The curved blade is used for quick stabbing, slashing, and general evisceration. Human flesh, despite the popular belief, is less durable than cardboard. It takes two pounds of pressure to break skin, and the point on this weapon is fully capable of delivering that... then going farther and ending up taking a couple organs with it on the way out. This weapon's use is not for those who are simply casual knife collectors, a karambit is made for those with training and anyone used to a straight bladed folding knife won't be able to properly use one. The nightshade series has various other weapons for those who have no training. One that is perfect for any occasion is the push blade of this series. It's cheap, and you don't need to be intelligent to know how to use it. At least watch an instructional video on how to use a karambit before even thinking about buying this. And for gods sake... quit complaining about your own stupidity. Don't cut off the ring, don't use it to open boxes, DO use it to protect yourself against home invasion. Next time, read up before you purchase.
