Chinese Exorcism is almost as old as the Chinese culture itself. In the ancient time, many different objects were used by exorcists. Eventually, seal and exorcism sword became two standard tools for exorcists after Taoism became popular. Exorcist swords are also often used as a Fengshui tool/decoration item to guard a household from evil spirits. This is a Chinese Exorcist Sword Jian suitable for normal martial arts practice and Fengshui decoration. The 40" sword features a 33" spring steel constructed blade. The blade is flexible, slightly sharpened, and can be easily further sharpened. On the guard and the pommel of the swords are symbols of bats which rhythms to Fortune in Chinese. The wood constructed scabbard features three copper decoration settings with beautiful and detailed symbols and runes for fortune, longevity, and wealth. On the blade are engravings of a dragon on one side, and Exorcist Sword engraving in Chinese on the other.

From a distance, this tassel is excellent, and its small size functions well for faster movements with the straightsword.
But if you look at it closely, it's poorly made; hardly any effort has been made to cover up the bulbous base that forms the shape. The strings over this base are so loose it's just hideous.

(More customer reviews)Nice and fast shipping. The sword's carvings and designs are great. The only thing I didn't really like was that the tip of the sword had a little burn mark on it, must've been from its manufacture and that the blade seems kinda loose a bit but it's not much of a big issue. The blade comes un-sharpen which I don't mind (for safety) but you can always sharpen it if you want. The blade is thick at the guard and gets thinner at the tip which allows the blade to be flexible and has a nice ring to it when you flick it. Overall I would say its good for display, practice with tai-chi, but I wouldn't use it to clash with other swords but you can if you want. Beautiful sword overall.

That other guy is a moron, if the sword gets stuck there are about 8 simple screws on the handle to take off. just note 2 are shorter than the rest they have to go in the exact spot you got them. but once the handle is off the entire sword comes out and each piece can be easily slipped in and out.
I was expecting a bit more from the carry case, but its not bad. overall a very good sword for $10

(More customer reviews)There are a few things wrong with this sword, first off rat tail tang. For this swords weight there is no safe way to swing it, the tang is to flimsy for that. If you are buying this sword for the sole purpose of hanging it on the wall its ok but still there is an issue with the weight, its heavy, really heavy. As for the carbon steel blade, im not entirly convinced that its carbon steel, and the edge is not honed at all.Three stars is all I can give this sword, and that is being generous.

I will probably end up putting some grip tape around the guard to hold the sword in place better, and to have a better grip on it. This should make it a high velocity (not impact) practice tool.

(More customer reviews)First, for the price, you know you are getting a stainless steel blade, which is not very good. stainless steel can bend and break so even though this sword is razor sharp, it may not last long if you plan on doing any cutting.
The one I recieved had a loose hand guard on it which worries me because usually when that happens it means the blade could be getting ready to fall out of the handle, especially if its used too much.. So far it has held up ok but I have not used it alot.
Also this sword is an 'ox tail' chinese sword. Ox Tail swords are a bit heavier than other chinese swords so if you are looking for a practice sword this may not be the one for you.
The scabbard is decent, and the blade is very sharp, and it has not fallen apart yet, So I would say for the price its OK.
