(More customer reviews)No, this isn't made with the exotic metals you see in so many knives these days. But it doesn't cost $200 either. This Gerber is exactly what I wanted -- a classic design in a decent steel with a nice handle. It's a bigger knife than one would expect just by looking at the pics. A lot of heft here.
My only complaint -- and this is just quibbling here, nothing serious -- is the finger cutouts in the handle. They almost never fit my hands on any knife (my hands are large), and this Gerber is no different. I might make a handle for it that's uniform all the way to the front. I might even try and fill the cutouts on this handle (but I doubt it). And I suppose I could wrap the handle with leather or para cord -- a slightly bulkier handle works better in a large hand. But even without any of that, this is a great knife.
If you've got to have the latest and greatest in outdoor gear, this knife will probably bore you. But that's what I like about it. It's an ordinary hunting knife, it's got a great blade that's strong and sharpens easily... and it's a Gerber.
It's a classic knife.
