(More customer reviews)This sword is very well made for the price point it sells at. Feels very sturdy. It's still a display item though so keep in mind that it's sturdy within that context.
The hilt is well wrapped in leather or something leather like- either way it feels and looks great.
The actual cross-guard that is part of the sword looks great and feels well connected.
The secondary cross-guard piece with the two small red blades on each side is removable. Connected with two magnets, it's secure enough while you're holding or waving it around or while on it's stand. The whole point of the thing being able to detach in the first place it because it can serve as a secondary weapon, it's got these finger holes (albeit kind of small) that allow you to grip the thing like a weird knife or something. Remember that circular bladed weapon in Predator 2? The one that cut Gary Busey in half and later on Danny Glover used on the Predator himself? Well that's kind of the idea going on here, though it's really too small to be functional. Still, it's a cool idea and helps to give a little more character to the piece.
The red finish could be a little nicer, maybe a shinier red and a little less matte? It still looks pretty cool to me. I love the way the red fades into black along the edges.
Length and weight are great, what you'd expect a scimitar to look and feel like. Honestly, something like this is what I would've expected to see as a Drizzt scimitar, as opposed to those ridiculous Icing-death and Twinkle swords that are currently on the market. Seriously, those things aren't even Scimitars for cryin' out loud! And the fact that they are nearly identical to one another? Somebody seriously dropped the ball there.
The stand is pretty darn cheap I must say. Also of note to me was the fact that, when assembled, the sword doesn't sit as seen in the photo(which looks good)instead it points more downward, which looked a little awkward to me. This is due to a badly designed stand and has nothing to do with the sword itself. I just put something underneath the "back" end of the stand to prop it up and it looks fine now.
Blade comes somewhat sharp. The blades on the secondary cross-guard however, came sharp as heck, watch your fingers.
Overall I'm more than happy. This piece is a great addition to my collection.
