I bought one of these for my brother for Christmas. He opened it and I'll tell you this was THE gift.
The blade on this thing is over a foot long and a lot heavier than I would have expected. Straight out of South Africa, a country that knows what a machete is supposed to taste like, this thing was only what I would call marginally sharp.
We immediately took it outside for preliminary tests. We put a Pepsi can that was about one quarter full on a post. My brother gave a one-handed horizontal swing. The top of the can landed about twenty feet away and the bottom half sat there looking like it didn't even move. Not bad, thought we.
Then came the throwing test. We started by throwing it at the wood shed, but the release was bad and it just flew over the top. Bummer. We picked it up and headed over to the junk cars.
We settled on a very tasteful tan 1984 Chevy half-ton pickup. The front driver's side fender was slightly bent, so that's where we laid on the pain, though I thought we should have gone for a windshield. My brother laid it low with a full strength swing. The blade punctured the fender, leaving a gash about four or five inches long. It took little effort to free the blade, and at that time it was revealed that there was little or no damage to the blade and the edge was hardly dulled. There was also no damage to the fiberglass handle.
Bottom line is this thing is the real deal. With a little effort with a file and perhaps a stone you could put an edge on this thing that would make me not even want to hold it, much less get on the business end. I think my brother summed it up best by saying, "you can't even get into the fair and go on a ride and eat a chili dog for thirteen bucks."

Some big cutting jobs are often best handled by using both hands and that's where our two handed machete comes into its own. Its long polypropylene handle and tough 1055 Carbon steel blade give you the leverage to cut down small trees as well as thick brush and tangled vines. Weighing just under two pounds and measuring 32" in overall length, it's light and compact enough to lash to your pack and is a natural to stash in your vehicle, boat, or airplane. In a self defense emergency, the Two Handed Machete will also double as a highly effective sword. It's light enough to be swung with either one or both hands.
