really a beautiful piece of work ! just the right amount of flex to the blade ,and the balance is amazing ! the only flaw I found is the material the grip is made of . under the wire wrap is plastic .when making a product of this quality why use plastic when the original material is cheap and easy to work ? overall a fine piece ,I reccomend it to anyone interested in the weaponry of our ancestors !

The Side Sword was a military sword of the 16th and 17th century Renaissance period that also achieved popularity among civilians, due to its relatively light weight and quickness. It also had an advantage over its contemporary, the rapier, in having the ability to cut efficiently as well as thrust. Side swords were often the weapon of choice for sword and buckler fighting. Our side sword, based on a German original, is a beautifully proportioned piece that balances very well. The 'swept" hilt affords excellent hand protection and the blade geometry makes for outstanding performance in both the cut and the thrust.

I had my eye on one of these for a while ,having taken saber fighting when I was younger. These Blades are excellent for the money not gaudy ,but well made and nice balance ...a very usable blade .. My son and I have started sparring with the interchangable practical blades, and this is not epee ,or foil fencing this is a different animal! These are tough usable blades ...enjoy
