The versatility of it was also as expected, it can hold countless different types of swords thanks to the multiple holes on the back that YOU get to decide where to put the handles. The only complaint that I have is that the profile picture for this product... Is upside down. The holes for your screws in the wall only allow for the crescent to be placed at the top of the display. A minor gripe but it could still make a difference in the presentation of the sword that you had in mind.

I used these for my kids who attended a pirate event. Worked out very well and we still have them even after a night of them playing with them.

(More customer reviews)The sword arrived wonderfully packaged so as to prevent damage. I'd caution that even though it has a black plastic nub near the tip to prevent you nicking yourself on the sharp tip; it might slide down in transit and still have a tiny sharp bit sticking out so watch out!
I've already been balancing the sword and it feel wonderful. It is heavy but balanced in a great nearly-centered space on the sword. It doesn't tip back or forward on it's edge; staying firmly in place as I move. I haven't even had to mark the bottom edge for the center.
The edge is blunted on both sides though it does look sharpened for that nice look while dancing. Again, though, the tip is rather sharp.
The sword is heavy so might take time to get used to but overall I am incredibly please with it and look forward to many years of use.
The one small downside is that it arrives wrapped in a bit of plastic wrap that sticks to the oiled sword. The oil might get on your hands so I'd suggest having a paper towel or other clean rag on hand when you unwrap it.

Barbarian Shamshir Scimitar Sword with Brass Guard Review

(More customer reviews)I've noticed recently, since having purchased this sword on Amazon, that many sell-from-home sites offer this sword (for generally the same price), but I wish I had paid more attention before buying it. The biggest difference is that on their sites, at least, you get an up close view of the sword and just how big and gaudy it is. A classic scimitar or shamshir is balanced and quite a bit smaller than this. You'd think that the sword maker could have save money on using less material to create the sword and focused more on balance and quality for the same value.
If you are nearly 7' tall and built like a brick house, then this sword might be just about the right proportion to you. If not, then don't waste your time. It's made of cheap Pakistani steel (at least the sword is made in nearly an authenticated place), and resembles those poorly made "Claymore" or Viking Swords you see at re-enactment festivals. One ding from a butter knife, let alone a carbon bladed sword, would have this blade ripped and barbed. Nice wall ornament, but I was looking for practical use in training. At least I won't have to spend anything extra on dumbbells.
