As a weapon collector, I bought this katana mainly just to show it off. When the katana arrived, it was sharp, but not as sharp as I expected so I spent about half an hour to an hour sharpening it. After a while of reading on how to properly hold this type of sword I went outside to slash up some plastic water bottles.
The water bottles were getting sliced very nicely. While slicing the water bottles, I hit the table I was using as a platform twice. I didn't really care about hitting the table and the blade getting worn, but I was quite surprised when I inspected the blade and didn't find any chips or dents on the blade when the katana struck the table.
Overall, it's a great sword whether it be used for a collection, decoration, or a weapon, which is expected from Cold Steel.
