Purchased as an accessory for a Halloween costume, I expected to get a toy sword that is just a little sturdier than the plastic ones sold at the chain Halloween stores. After all, the plastic ones sell for $5-$10 or so, and this one was a good bit more, so I expected a sturdier toy, but still a toy. What I got was a sword! A very real, very sturdy, very handsome sword, with a wood and leather scabbard. The whole thing weighs over 4 pounds. It's smallish for an adult male, but it's perfect for my wife, for whom it was purchased. At craft fairs, I've seen swords no better made with scabbards much less well crafted selling for 10 times this price. The details on hilt and blade are excellent. The scabbard, as mentioned, is rugged. It's probably too real a weapon for small hands to wield, but it's a great value for the $$$.
