(More customer reviews)What you're getting is a stabbing implement, and one that requires a very significant amount of strength to do damage. Also, this is an in and out weapon. You won't be able to stab and rip or slash with this "knife."
It's made of a sort of heavy plastic or fiberglass that comes to a point. While the blurb says this point is "needle sharp" it isn't. I imagine if it was needle sharp, there'd be a risk of the point snapping off, and then you'd truly be SOL. The sides are not sharp at all, so you can't use this as a slashing weapon.
So to use this you're going to need to be rather strong, strong enough to drive through through a leather coat or several layers of clothes and into an attacker's body. The complete lack of sharp edges isn't going to make that easy. There's a very real chance that a weaker person might not be able to do so, and then that person is just beating on an attacker with a pointy stick.
Is this better than nothing? You better believe it. In the hands of someone who was strong and who knew where to aim could this greatly injure an attacker? It surely could. Would you probably be better served by a good, razor sharp knife? I think undoubtably so.
It gets points for being cheap and for being a good idea and a good hide it in plain sight last-ditch weapon. As something you'd reach for if you knew there was going to be trouble, though--well, I think there are many better choices.
