The entire blade is heavy and is not for kids, but it is safe enough to be around kids because it lacks a sharp edge. For many this might be a turn off, but for me this is a great thing, and the points that surround the blade are still extremely sharp. The only thing that disappointed me was the fact that the chain was shorter than what was shown, but it is still longer than the sword itself. This is a great gift for any GOW fan. Everyone will be impressed with the blade, it demands a great presence in any home!
