I was looking for a sword to mess around with, basically... act like a bad-ass with, swing around, cut stuff up, train with, use for self defense, etc. This was NOT the sword for that, it chipped when lightly struck with a letter opener, as well as denting when hitting a ceiling fan light THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL IT WOULD "cut steel wire without chipping" as stated. If you want something to hang on your wall to look cool and occasionally swing around to show off to friends, and nothing more, maybe get this (although you can buy swords for roughly the same price right off amazon that look great and do what I was looking for). The "hidden tanto thrower"(all it is is a dull little letter opener) falls out all the time and sucks, but, looks cool. The sword is full tang which you need with a sword and pretty sharp, and it is carbon steel but low quality, and the hand wrapping is just individual strips glued on. Overall, it's not that great. The fact of the matter is that if you want something just to stick on your wall and look cool and never use or mess around with, buy something allot cheaper or you're wasting money, if you want something to honestly use as a sword you'll need to spend a good bit more money ($300-$500 would be good for a good starter/training real katana, and over $1000 for a great, genuine, weapon for an avid collector and enthusiast.)All in all, it's cool, but i wish i had bought something else or put this money towards a real "Japanese folded steel" katana for about $300. If you were going to buy a sword for the reasons I bought this one for, save your money and buy a real sword for at least $100-$200.
