I am a martial artist and I've been practicing with a wooden practice sword for some time and thought "what the heck, why not?" to a $22 katana. It's my first sword, and I by no means was expecting alot, especially for that price. When I opened the package, the butt cap of the sword immediatly fell off (easily fixed) and there are clearly visible signs of glue in and around the guard and hilt. I was counting on it's stability being a 'full tang' sword but it still is a little shaky. The ribbon-like leather around the handle is purely for show and shifts in your grip (replacable). Being a do-it-yourself-fix-it-guy, I took it upon myself to fix some things. We'll see what happens, I don't have very high expectations but the decent blade, handle and guard could potentially prove to be worth while.

Jin Tachi refers to the way the sword attaches to an Obi (worn sash). Two hangers are used attach the sword to the obi, and the blade is hung edge down. This sword has a genuine leather display cord for the Jin Tachi look. Matching the display cord with the same style of genuine leather are the handle and the partial wrap of the saya (scabbard). The rest of the saya is a matte black finish. The tsuba (guard) has a beautiful design with an antique finish. The blade equipped to this sword is 27 inches long and made of stainless steel. Overall sword length is 42 inches.
