This claymore is a good, solid piece of steel, and even though I'm young I will probably be able to give this to my grandchildren. This sword is 6.5 pounds, making it quite difficult to quickly use; but, as its balance is near perfect, you can with much practice actually wield this sword nearly as quick as a standard sized broadsword, it just takes more of your strength to do this. It comes with a battle edge, rather than a razor-sharp wallhanger edge. The reason for this is that the razor sharp edges on most modern swords and knives are too thin to hold up to heavy use, and dull quickly. You can run your fingers all up and down the blade on this sword and never cut yourself, or even hold it by the blade, but you can still cut any object when you apply speed and strength. This is not stainless steel, and therefore cutting melons or not oiling the sword frequently will stain it or rust it. I prefer it this way, because I always feel like stainless steel is either too easy to bend or brittle, while this sword will never bend or break.
If you buy this from the Dark Knight Armoury, it will be cheaper than Amazon, but it will take longer to get to you. I recommend buying it from them.

The sword is available in both polished and antiqued finishes, the finish of the SH2060N closely replicating that of the original museum piece.The grips of the Claymore are leathercovered, black in the case of the SH2060.
