I bought the chain whip thinking it may be heavier with the "combat steel" moniker, but I guess I should have tried to weigh other whips I have access to. It's very light. You really have to swing the heck out of it to get it going and to control it since it has so little weight behind it. This may be a good performance Wushu chain whip, but when I practice I like the feel of more weight in my hand and the feel of more weight throughout the weapon. Weight that could do a lot of damage and weight that aids control. I just started out practicing with a heavier chain whip. I'm a big guy so it works out.

The Martial Arts Stores nine section whip chain is made of combat steel and chrome-plated. Each section has a length of 3 1/2" and overall approximately 56" with a weight of 1 lb. 6.5 oz. Our whip chain also comes with a black carrying pouch.
