(More customer reviews)I have about every sharpener type made - including powered leather belts and the "wet-or-dry" glued to plate glass types (AKA "Scary Sharp"). Have a bunch of complaints with all of 'em, chiefly involving the learning curve. This style of sharpener is usually very fragile - either the ceramic rods will snap or spin uselessly. Not so the AccuSharp. It has two reversible plates inside which are almost bullet proof. It will also throw a very sharp edge on even the cheapest knives with only a few strokes. Not made for serrated blades, but I've sharpened some with it. Also probably not good for Asian or ceramic knives (never tried). I keep one in the kitchen and one in the gun room (for bayonets, of course.) I'll bet that you won't find a better sharpener for 5 times the money.
