I'm sitting with one of these daggers beside me as I write this review. I originally bought the dagger because I am interested in off-hand parrying weapons, and this came at a good price. Overall the quality is good. I have four complaints. First, it has the word "China" engraved on the back of the blade near the hilt, and "440 Stainless" engraved on the front near the hilt. This takes away the feel of authenticity on close viewing. Second, the chains and clips on the scabbard are crudely made. I could do better and am tempted to replace them. Third, the hilt loosens over time. It can be tightened by turning the knob on the end of the handle, but the knob is round and it's an effort to get things snug. You can take the handle off completely, revealing that the tang is welded to the blade. Finally, the ring has a harsh edge to it which makes holding it uncomfortable.
As a costume or photography prop or as an example of a parrying dagger I give it 5 stars. As a wallhanger I'd say 3 stars. Since we don't live in a world where such a dagger has a practical purpose, I won't rate it on practicality. I give it four stars instead of three only because of the price.

This is a replica of an early 15th century main gauche. The dagger like weapon was used in the left hand with the rapier. The dagger was meant to parry the opponents thrusts and was often used offensively. The blade of the dagger is 440 Stainless Steel with a double edged design.
