(More customer reviews)Orchard Supply Hardware had this Camillus folder for $35 and cents and tax, and I had admired it for a few months. Seeing it on Amazon for no tax and free shipping and $26 was too much temptation and I got it, despite knowing the wife would say I already had enough knives. Anyway, mine must have been backordered as it took about a month and a few days between when I ordered it and when it (well packed) arrived.
Ok: the bad so far: minor: it's a bit stiff to open and close, so not a "one hand" knife (yet...still brand new and stiff...in time?). It is a fairly large folder at 4 5/8" closed length 8" open length, 3 1/8" blade edge length and 3 1/4" total blade tip to handle length (blade cutting edge plus non-cutting part). My point? My point is that it REALLY would be nice to have a belt sheath for it, like Buck did/does? for their large folder.
the good: quality materials, precision fit and finish, VERY nice blade design (thin and wide) that makes it an excellent cutting knife. Large handle for us big guys and good gripping for any size hand. The clip on the handle, unlike some other folders, is no problem to use. Not too tight. Not too loose. Just right.
As for sharpness, I'm normally happy if a knife will shave hair off my arm when the hair is wet (easier). But out of the box, this Camillus folder is so sharp it effortlessly shaves hair off my arm, dry. This is one VERY sharp knife. As for edge holding, it is too early to tell much other than cutting hay bale twing (tough synthetic), it cuts and still shaves hair.
All in all, a lot of knife for $26.
