(More customer reviews)O.k. so first off, I am a knife collector and I collect quality cutlery. Now before you ask why I bought a knife by M-Tech (who are known to make low quality flea market knives), I must say that I have a very good reason in this case. The knife was designed by a gentleman named Jose Negron who originally commissioned custom knife maker Reese Weiland to bring this and some other designs to life. The short of it is, if you like and want one of these knives, you can have Reese Weiland make one for you (at pretty high cost) or you can get an M-Tech. Yeah, I wish one of the quality companies like Benchmade, Kershaw, Spyderco, or even CRKT would have obtained the rights to this design but that's not how it happened.
Now to the knife. It's a neat design! The middle and index fingers really lock into the ring and finger cutout when it's open. Speaking of being open, it opens smoothly enough and the dual thumbstuds are grippy and placed decently. The lock is secure. The pocket clip is slightly gapped from the handle, hence a little loose when clipped to the pocket. The frame/slabs are slightly mismatched but it's only aesthetic. The blade edge did not come sharp. It is beveled to a thick edge and there is no bite. I can run my finger down the edge with applied pressure without fear of injury. The point is sharp though. With a hawkbill blade (simulated talon) the point is initially more important anyways as it penetrates the object to be cut and then draws the edge deeper so I believe it will still cut well enough for packages etc. around the house. It would even do well as a money clip (given it's small size). I could see it fulfilling the role of a small hideout self defense blade as well. Ultimately it's like I said, if you like the design it's this or a pricey custom. I thought it was well worth the price of admission to check it out. Hope my review helps.
