Smith & Wesson CK6A Bullseye Extreme Ops Knife Review

Smith and Wesson CK6A Bullseye Extreme Ops Knife
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Smith & Wesson model CK6A with satin finish drop tip blade, and natural aluminum anodized, micro-serrated handle.
This is a mid-size tactical pocket folder, yet seems larger in the hand. Fit and finish are outstanding. The handle is joined by small torx screws seated flush and even on both sides, with a large torx screw securing what appears to be a robust blade pivot. The handle surface is an attractive, crisply executed cross-hatch groove pattern that creates a jewel-like effect. Inside the aluminum scales are 1/6" steel liners on both sides with a small spring-tang "liner lock" on the right side that snaps in behind the open blade to lock it solidly without play or wobble.
The blade is an honest 3.5" long, by just under 1" broad, and 1/8" thick along the spine, with a drop-point design that yields a blade suitable for tactical needs. The blade is activated in one of two ways. Either by pushing against the large, 3/8" diameter knurled thumb "wheel" mounted on the spine by torx screw, or using the index finger to rake down along the spine, pressing against the blade guard which in the closed position extends slightly through and above the handle. Using the index finger method seems natural, followed by a quick wrist flip to swing the blade open into lock--very fast and solid. And it is here that S&W's characteristic attention to detail comes through. All operations are smooth, with solid "clicks" where appropriate.
Blade finish is satin brushed with the S&W logo laser etched onto the left side.
The knife is quite light...feeling much lighter in the hand than its rather ample size would suggest, and so rides in a pocket without pulling, yet this limits the knife's combat use to blade specific work since there isn't much mass to use the pommel end for strikes.
There is a nicely shaped, strong, spring-steel pocket clip attached by three small torx screws on the right side of the handle, mounted near the pommel end so when clipped in a pocket allows the knife to ride blade end down for a more natural "draw" than those with the clip mounted reversed.
Overall an impressive knife, and while the Amazon price is reasonable, this knife can be found through a variety of other sellers for much less...I picked up this one from an ebay seller for just $12....no more than the cost of most "el-cheapo" imports, yet for a branded knife from a reputable maker.
It seems most S&W knives these days are being built in China, but don't worry...S&W has managed to keep its legendary quality intact

this knife or should or i say knives. it was amazing when i bought them i was like oh ok i guess a good starter set. but boy was i wrong it was amazing. i loved them. though they had the twine handle it was nice. what i did is just wraped duct tape around it. the smaller knife was good for throwing. it was very acurate and balenced. the bigger one was even more balenced and good for camping and survival use. if i were you i would buy this set.

M-Tech Folding Pocket Knife Black Review

COMMENT:
When I read the Product Descriptions and Reviews of knives being sold here on Amazon, a lot of times it makes me laugh because they are so full of misinformation. I guess this is because the sellers and reviewers are not knife dealers and don't know that much about knives in general. But hey, that's ok, because everybody is entitled to their opinion. When rating a knife, I don't try to compare a $10.00 knife with a $100.00 knife. This is a good knife for the money and is all metal construction with aluminum handles.

SOG Specialty Knives & Tools TF-1 Trident, Black TiNi Review

SOG Specialty Knives and Tools TF-1 Trident, Black TiNi

very high quality knife for the money.
SOG's locking mechanism is very secure and easy to use. the assisted opening is smooth and fast. after a day of messing around, i could open and close the knife with both hands as easy as scratching my behind
the blade is a good size and cuts through most things well. however, i personally would prefer a sharper blade
SOG's zytel handle grips well and sits comfortably in my medium/large paws
the WORST part of this knife for me was the extra opening for cutting string/etc . . . unless you are cutting thin twine or fishing line it doesnt work very well
the BEST part of the knife, besides the lock action, is the clip. people see it and think, how in the turkey gravy are you going to concealed carry a knife with a 5" handle? simple. it is very thin and the clip is on the very end of the handle. it slips into your pants, leaving only the attractively styled "SOG" clip hanging out. the clip for mine (black TiNi) is also a dull black, hiding it from all but the most prying knives.
the clip is also NOT somewhere in the middle of the knife, a rather ridiculous feature of some CKRT, buck, and camillus knives. why would you EVER want 1/4 of your knife sticking out for the world to see? not to mention some of the knives from those manufacturers are almost as fat as a hot dog sausage. before i owned my knife i never really knew what to look for. now that i have my SOG that tucks securely into my pocket and out of prying eyes, i get a laugh out of other not-as-well thought out knives . .SOG is a great product for the money. jsut to try out different and better things, my next knife shall be a benchmade.

Blending elements from the Bowie, Tomcat, SEAL Pup, and Flash Series knives, SOG Specialty Knives and Tools has created a new breed of folding knife: the TF-1 Trident Knife with partially-serrated blade and black TiNi coating. Designed for use by Navy SEALs, the TF-1 features SOG's grooved handle, which allows you to cut heavy cord and cable without having to open the specially designed blade. The TF-1's blade is easy to open and features Arc-Actuator technology, which helps the blade lock more strongly and release more easily.
S.A.T. propels the blade open for quick, safe, one-handed access. View larger.SOG Assisted Technology Increases Speed, Safety, and UsabilityFast, safe, single-handed opening makes SOG Trident Series knives incredibly easy to handle in a wide variety of situations. When you go to unfold the TF-1's blade, SOG's proprietary S.A.T. (SOG Assisted Technology) takes over. High-tension coil springs propel the blade open, so you can easily access it with just one hand.
S.A.T. knives offer security and peace of mind with their locking mechanisms that are stronger, more reliable, and easier to access than other knives'. For Trident Series knives, this means the blade is held in place with a reliable piston lock that can be quickly released with a sliding button. An additional safety lock offers extra security when the blade is closed, and for easy reference, the lock switch shows red when the knife is ready to be opened.
Cryogenic Heat Treatment and TiNi Coating Guarantee a Sharp, Durable BladeThe TF-1 offers a full, 3.75-inch, AUS8 stainless steel blade that has undergone SOG's patented Cryogenic Heat Treatment process, which ensures that this blade will stay sharp over the long haul. This intensive process takes more than 48 hours and involves slowly reducing the blade's temperature to less than -300 degrees Fahrenheit, then slowly heating the blade to room temperature. The stress created by this process strengthens the steel on an atomic level and increases the blade's overall durability and edge retention.
In addition to having undergone the Cryogenic Heat Treatment Process, this knife is coated in proprietary titanium nitride (TiNi), of the toughest coatings that can be applied to steel. TiNi boasts extreme hardness, is exceptionally scratch and peel resistant, helps increase steel's longevity, and ensures low reflectivity.
Ergonomic, Lightweight Design Ensures Comfortable UseEven if your blade is sharp, it's hard to make precise cuts if your knife doesn't fit comfortably in your hand. That's why this knife's handle is ergonomically contoured. Crafted from tough, glass-reinforced Zytel, the handle is well-balanced and features SOG's unique Digi-Grip texturing, a feature that gives you gripping power where you need it most. Additionally, SOG's grooved handle allows you to cut heavy cord and cable without having to open the blade.
At just 3.6 ounces, this folding knife is lightweight and easy to carry. A reversible, bayonet-mounted clip extends from the back of the handle, allowing the knife to sit low in your pocket for the most discreet carry possible. The removable clip is easily switched for right/left hand-carry.
This knife is backed by a lifetime warranty that protects against defects in manufacturing and materials.
