(More customer reviews)I own the Paul Chen (CAS Hanwei) Shinto Elite Katana (SH6004LGF) which I feel is a simply amazing sword for the price, very well constructed and perfect for light cutting or Iaido practice. I'm still trying to figure out what the difference is between the various model numbers for this sword but they all seem to be of similar quality. Anyway, I was looking for the companion sword to this Daisho and found this Shinto Wakizashi here on Amazon. I was a little hesitant to purchase it at first but the price was very attractive. The Wakizashi arrived today and I must say that I am very impressed with the quality of a CAS Hanwei product once again. It is razor sharp so be very careful when handling. The differences between my Shinto Katana vs. the Wakizashi are minor but there are some. Otherwise, they match together very well. For example, the Kurikata and Kashira on the Wakizashi have a nice gold trim added. The Shinto Katana does not. I'm not sure if this is intentional. The Tsuba and the Kashira vary slightly in design as well but it adds to the uniqueness. Overall, I highly recommend the Hanwei Shinto Katana and Wakizashi. They are beautifully crafted and will provide a lifetime of enjoyment if cared for well. I hope this information is helpful.

The Shinto Wakizashi has a hand-forged T10 high-carbon steel blade with Bo-Hi. The blade is differentially hardened using the traditional claying method. The Wakizashi is mounted in black and the tsuka-ito is made of premium black Japanese cotton. The saya is finished in a deep black lacquer with a black cotton sageo. A finely rendered dragon, detailed in gold, with true front-and-back detail, forms the black iron tsuba. The fittings are superbly antiqued adding to the aesthetics of the piece. The Shinto Wakizashi is supplied with a protective cloth bag and traditional maintenance kit.
