I ordered this mostly as a curio for my bookcase and collection. It is very pretty, quality made, fun to play with. I particularly like the little touches like the piano black lacquer on the sheath and the cherry blossom that conceals the take down pin. Note that its handle is girded with plastic instead of rayskin, and the who-knows-what-steel has a simulated temper line. No matter. It feels good in the hand, good enough to practice your tantojutsu, kempo kata, your choice of art. I'll never use it to pierce the bamboo armor of my opponent -- that's what a forty-five is for -- but it is a nice toy and worth a look.

Forged and differentially hardened, this affordable Hanwei Practical Tanto Sword applies the same process used to create more expensive blades to produce an HRC60 steel edge and HRC40 steel back. The temper line is authentic and prominent. Cost savings are effected by using fittings which, while making no claims to authenticity, are very strongly built to withstand the rigors of cutting exercises in the dojo.
