The ramrod is a non-removable, plant-on piece, so there is no way to simulate loading (I bought it as a stage prop). The biggest disappointment was that the musket comes with a replica bayonet, but the barrel has no sight/catch on the end so that you can attach it. It wouldn't have been that hard for the manufacturer to include this detail. The good news was that the product was shipped quickly and arrived in good condition (despite the aforementioned problems).
